New Zealand co-hosted the first Rugby World Cup with Australia in 1987 and this year sees them sole hosting it with The 2011 Rugby World Cup starting in Auckland with the NZ vs. Tonga game on 9th September 2011. The final is set to be played in Auckland on Sunday October 23, 2011, at Eden Park.
48 World Cup matches will be held over 7 weeks in 13 different venues throughout New Zealand and 20 teams are to compete in the next World Cup.
It will be the largest sporting event to ever be held in New Zealand and around 70,000 visitors from overseas are expected to travel to New Zealand for the associated games and events.
