Date: Sunday, July 10, 2011 - Monday, July 11, 2011
Location:
Royal Albert Hall, London
Royal Albert Hall, London
Presented by The Really Big Chorus
Experience the wow-factor of Orff's most famous work, with a text by medieval monks on the unlikely topics of wine, women and song. The powerful opening chorus 'O Fortuna' will sound familiar, having featured in various TV ads, and in the popular BBC 'Maestro' series.
The massive orchestra is balanced by the huge forces of The Really Big Chorus, directed by its Principal Conductor Brian Kay, with the Virginia Children's Choir from the USA as special guests. Don't miss celebrated tenor Neil Jenkins in his depiction of a swan roasting on a spit; baritone Paul Carey Jones playing the parts of a drunken abbot and a love-sick knight, and soprano Mary Bevan pledging herself body and soul to her lover.
This concert helps to raise funds for the St John Ambulance charity.
